Clan Sinclair Association Canada

Welcome Message from
The Right Honourable
The Earl of Caithness

Patron of the
 Clan Sinclair Association Canada

Sinclairs have a special relationship with Canada. It stretches back over six hundred years, to when, according to the Zeno narrative, Henry Sinclair, Jarl of Orkney sailed from north Scotland to what is now Nova Scotia. Sinclairs were among the early traders and settlers right across the country even before Upper Canada was formed in 1791. The marriage of William Sinclair to Nahoway in about 1790 founded an Indigenous Sinclair dynasty that started in what was then called Rupert’s Land (historically included the whole of Manitoba, most of Saskatchewan, southern Alberta, southern Nunavut, and northern parts of Ontario and Quebec.) and is now worldwide.

From its formation in Toronto in 1972, the Clan Sinclair Association of Canada spans the country. For over fifty years it has enabled and helped Sinclairs, together with Septs of the Clan and friends from around the world, to come together, create new friendship and research their history.

Welcome to the Clan Sinclair Association Canada and its website.
